Trails
Angel Fire has numerous trails within the Village limits and we are surrounded by the Carson National Forest, which allow for many different hiking experiences.  We have a few trail distriptions and maps, please feel free to hike our trails as well as others.  Below are a few hiking tips, happy hiking.


Hiking Safety Tips

1.  Do not hike alone.
2.  Get the weather report. 
3.  Go properly equipped.
4.  Plan your route.
5.  Try to avoid exposed ridges and peaks.
6.  Stay clam if you get lost.  Make sure you bring a compass and topo maps.
7.  Do not drink the water.

Health Tips

Altitude Sickness:
Is the lack of oxygen at high elevations. 
Symptoms: Loss of appetite, listlessness, nausea, vomitting, shortness of breath, and coughing.
Solution: Rest, breathe deeply, eat quick energy foods and seek lower elevations.

Hypothermia:
Is the lowering of the body's temperature.
Symptoms: Shivering, poor judgement, lack of coordination and fatigue.
Solution: Warm the victim with warm dry clothing or plastic bags.  Seek shelter or use body heat to warm the victim. 

What to bring

1.  Map of the area.
2.  Compass
3.  Extra Clothing - dry socks, gloves, wool shirt, knit cap, long underwear.
4.  Sunglasses, sunscreen, lip balm
5.  Lighter, matches, firestarter, candle
6.  Pocket knife
7.  Whistle
8.  Flashlight
9.  Toilet paper or tissue in plastic zip-lock bag
10. Water purification tablets
11. Emergency shelter - tube tent, space blanket or trash bag
